Updated: Jul 23, 2019

The 9th edition of the Deauville Asian Film Festival 2007, France had a special focus on the movies of Malaysian director James Lee, as a talent to watch. This focus was to acknowledge Lee’s status as one of the pioneer digital filmmakers of the region, who has amassed a promising body of work since his debut in 2001. This is the first time that a French festival devoted such a focus to a Malaysian filmmaker. Aside from Lee, this year the festival also has a focus on Korean auteur Park Chan-Wook.
