MALAYSIAN director James Lee has always wanted to make a film that could capture the international market.
His wish may be coming true. His latest film, a horror thriller called Claypot Curry Killers, has already attracted the attention of an international distributor based in Germany even before the film makes its debut here on Astro First (Astro channel 480) this Oct 10.
The film’s production houses Astro Shaw Sdn Bhd and Hadir Dinamik Sdn Bhd are also in negotiations with distributors from other parts of the world.
“My biggest challenge was making a quality film for the international market with the limited budget and resources that was given to me, ” says Lee, whose earlier film, The Beautiful Washing Machine, won the best Asean feature award and the Fipresci Prize at the Bangkok International Film Festival in 2005.
